Funds Allocation Update for 15th Annual RED FM Gurpurab Radiothon
The 15th Annual RED FM Gurpurab Radiothon is set for Friday, November 19, 2021 from 7am – 7pm.
This event has historically raised funds for Surrey Hospitals Foundation, raising over $8.5 million to date. However, due to the urgent need for flood relief assistance in the Fraser Valley region, Surrey Hospitals Foundation has asked that all funds from this year’s event be directed to the Canadian Red Cross who are coordinating relief efforts throughout the region.
“The priority for our community right now is looking after those who have experienced devastation and loss during this week’s flooding,” says Harp Dhillon, Chair, Surrey Hospitals Foundation Board of Directors. “We will look forward to continuing our annual fundraising efforts via the RED FM Gurpurab Radiothon in the near future.”
A date will be announced in early 2022 for another Radiothon in support of Surrey Hospitals Foundation.
The Gurpurab Radiothon, hosted by Surrey’s 93.1 RED FM, is the most successful one-day Radiothon supporting a hospital in Canada. It is held annually in celebration of the birthdate of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. The Sikh community celebrates this occasion with their donations. This is the 15th year that RED FM has hosted a Gurpurab Radiothon.
Those wishing to support the Canadian Red Cross during the Gurpurab Radiothon on November 19th can donate by phone at 604.598.9311, or visit the RED FM station to make a drive-through donation in person.
