A big thank you to Surrey-based Safe Software for sending the $6-million campaign for the Children’s Health Centre off to spectacular start with a $1 million donation.
Company founders, Dale Lutz and Don Murray, made this extraordinary contribution because they recognized the burden on families who are driving to Vancouver for care because the 17-year-old Centre does not have enough room to accommodate the needs of our growing community.
The $6 million raised for the Caring for Kids Closer to Home campaign will help Fraser Health transform the Centre, doubling the outpatient clinic rooms and creating family friendly space for kids who need day care services or inpatient care.
“The best kind of care is delivered closer to home,” Dale Lutz says. “Our family knows how challenging it is when you have to travel into Vancouver frequently for medical care.”
Don Murray adds: “We have done well as a company over the past few years, and we felt that this was the perfect time to make a gift that will help children and families in the community where we live and work.”
A made-in-Surrey success story, Safe Software grew from humble beginnings in a basement office to an internationally renowned company with more than 150 employees. The company now supplies innovative data integration software to more than 20,000 customers around the world.
Foundation President & CEO Jane Adams hopes that Safe Software’s leadership will inspire others to give to a cause that impacts thousands of families every year.
“We thank Dale and Don for making this leadership gift that has the power to make a difference for so many local families who need access to specialized children’s health services in their own community,” she said.
“I hope that their vision will inspire other companies and other parents to contribute. Taking your kids to Vancouver for medical appointments is a huge hardship for families who live or work in Surrey.”
The Foundation has raised $2 million of the $6 million needed, and Fraser Health has committed another $8 million.
