Construction of the new Surrey Memorial Hospital Renal Centre is well underway and on track for late 2025 completion. Once operational, this new state-of-the-art facility will help thousands of people living with kidney failure in our rapidly growing community by increasing dialysis capacity from 42,000 treatments to 65,000 a year – a 55% capacity increase.
Construction progress
The construction site at the corner of King George Boulevard and 96 Avenue has a been a very busy place since last August. See photos below of the recent construction development as well as renderings of what the facility will look like when complete.
Thank you to our generous community
The building of this new facility has been made possible in part thanks to our incredibly generous community of donors, including RedFM listeners whose radio-a-thon raised $1 million in support of this critical project which will help ensure that people in Surrey and its surrounding communities get the comprehensive, compassionate care they need close to home.
About the new SMH Renal Centre
Did you know that Surrey Memorial Hospital is the regional centre for renal (kidney) care south of the Fraser? The new stand-alone Renal Centre is being built on the northwestern corner of Surrey Memorial Hospital’s campus. The facility will expand the hospital’s capacity to treat patients with kidney disease by adding 21 new renal hemodialysis stations, bringing the total at Surrey Memorial Hospital to 60, and will operate seven days a week.
