HIGHLIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

2020 - current

Ongoing support of Surrey's COVID-19 Response

We’re using funds raised by our community to support the front line teams at Surrey Memorial Hospital with both immediate and ongoing needs. To date, our COVID-19 Response Fund has enabled us to acquire 150 additional pieces of important equipment as requested by the hospital teams.

2019 - 2020

Renewing 10 Operating Rooms at Surrey Memorial Hospital

Over 21,000 surgeries per year are performed inside of Fraser Health’s busiest surgical centre at Surrey Memorial Hospital. We have partnered with Fraser Health to renew all 10 operating rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and innovation, helping to recruit and retain top surgical talent to Surrey. Three of the operating rooms are now complete.

2018 - 2020

Transforming the Regional Children's Health Centre

Since the Centre was built in 2001, the population of Surrey has increased by 50%. 1 in 3 Surrey residents is under 19 years old. In response to this growing population, SHF partnered with Fraser Health to transform the regional Children’s Health Centre at Surrey Memorial Hospital. This renovation will increase the number of clinical rooms, open Surrey’s first pediatric pre and post surgery unit, and move the Joseph Chung Pediatric Oncology Unit to a renewed, brighter space overlooking the playground.

2018

Better Care for Our Community's Alzheimer Patients

By working together, we’ve been able to fund specialty programs and support for Alzheimer patients in our 72-bed Czorny Alzheimer Centre, which provides specialized care and a safe, comfortable home for dementia patients. The Centre was gifted to Surrey Hospitals Foundation in 2018, and is operated by Fraser Health.

Highly specialized, urgent care for kids in crisis

By funding the establishment of the ten-bed Cloverdale Paint Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit, children and adolescents in urgent mental health crisis will receive attentive care from a highly specialized team in a calm environment. This unit is the first of its kind in Fraser Health. Prior to its opening, young patients were seen in emergency departments throughout the region. An SHF-funded Parent-in-Residence and Youth-in-Residence program by Family Smart ensures both youth and parents are supported during their stay.
